WIN: Supporting Government Change with Dept for Business & Trade

Department for Business and Trade Logo

London, 18 December 2024 - This summer, the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) ran a competition on the Crown Commercial Service's G-Cloud Framework to find a supplier to take over an ongoing personal data migration, supporting machinery of Government Change and the transfer of staff from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The project was at its peak activity at the time of the contract award, and the customer needed a supplier with strong data migration capabilities to rapidly take over the service. The goal was to maintain the high-quality service provided to users and ensure that milestones agreed with internal customers were met.

Through Technology was selected after a competitive procurement process. We took on the service and overcame immediate challenges related to the supportability of the existing migration process and its handover. Since the commencement of the service, we have successfully navigated the transition challenges, keeping the project on track with its original delivery milestones while also documenting and optimising the migration process. Additionally, we have increased the level of engagement between end users and the technical experts supporting the migration, thereby improving the customer experience for the DBT project team and their end customers across the department.

As the year comes to a close, we are confident that we have turned the customer's risk of switching suppliers into a significant gain in customer experience and value for money for the taxpayer. We look forward to completing the project on time and within budget with our DBT colleagues in Q1 2025.k of switching suppliers, into a significant gain in customer experience and value for money for the tax payer and we look forward to completing the project on time and to budget with our DBT colleagues in Q1 2025.
